Does an employer need to pay for breaks during a nine hour shift?

As an employer do I have to pay for any breaks during a nine hour shift?

Howard Levitt answered:

There must be a 30 minute break that can be unpaid after every five hours worked. After that, unless the employees ask for it and agree they won't be paid, it must be as the employee is required to attend work for those hours.
