Is an employee entitled to vacation time after giving two weeks notice?

Expert: Howard Levitt

Agnese asked:

Is an employee entitled to take vacation time after they have given their two week notice in the province of Nova Scotia?

Howard Levitt answered:

The purpose of notice is to assist in the transition and to work while the employer finds a replacement. Doing what is proposed defeats both purposes. As well, if you give only two weeks notice, you are open to being sued for wrongful resignation.
