BC: Video Conference Facilities to be More Accessible to Small Businesses

By Mario Cywinski |

BC: Small Business BC will receive funding from the Government of Canada and the province to enhance how accessible resources are to small businesses.

The $233,500 funding will include increased awareness of services available and addition of 47 video conference facilities in BC communities, which will make education and training more accessible in rural areas of BC.

"Helping people connect through interactive technology strengthens partnerships and builds on local capacity," said Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett on behalf of Minister of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development, Iain Black. "We're ensuring that B.C. entrepreneurs in rural and smaller communities are well served, with access to information and training that will help them expand and succeed."

Over 13,000 registrants have viewed upwards of 1,000 video conference seminars and workshops since 2006 because of the Small Business BC Education Centre.

"Small businesses are a diverse community, and this strengthens our capability to reach out, making more opportunities available with 'just in time' information," said George Hunter , CEO, Small Business BC. "Providing effective supports through relevant, timely information products and training increases the chances for profitability and long-term success."
